This weekend I got to appreciate part of the fun of living in a big city like New Orleans, where there is always something going on. Everyone knows that the BCS championship took place in New Orleans this year, but I didn’t realize exactly all that that would bring along with it–a whole weekend of partying. Saturday and Sunday they had the Fan Fest, which was just a free festival downtown. We went down Saturday and it was SO crowded. You can see some of the pictures on our Photos page. And of course, the street vendors and street performers were out in force. Since we’ve lived here (6 months), I have never seen so many of them out at one time. But they knew what they were doing, because all of the drunk and some of the sober tourists (which were few and far between) were practically throwing money at them. We even sat and enjoyed one of the performances by some tumblers/breakdancers at the amphitheater across from Jackson Square (check out the photos). Then on Sunday night, Lifehouse played a free concert as a part of the festivities. I’m not just a huge Lifehouse fan or anything, but who can say no to a free concert? All in all, it was a really fun, and FREE, weekend. And now, Mardi Gras has already begun, and then there’s the NBA Allstar Game coming to town, so who knows what kind of free fun stuff we have in store for us in the next few months. I love it! Don’t forget to check out the pictures…
Bud Light Sound Stage??? Sweeeet! “Free” is the Seminary Student’s Best friend. Those Gold and Silver guys have been there for years. They’re pretty good, I’ve given them some “change” before. Were the boys tapdancing with bottle caps on their shoes? They’re fun to watch too! Have fun with Mardi Gras and Le Bon Ton Roulle!
