If you scroll down a little and look at the sidebar on the right, you’ll notice we have added a new little widget–”Diana’s Running Log.” I was a little nervous to post it for all to see, but after a little thought, I decided it would be a good idea.
I started running (this time) back in September. I would run for 2 minutes, walk for 4, and repeat that cycle 5 times for a total of 30 minutes. Since then, I have progressed to being able to run 35 to 40 minutes without stopping (or walking). That usually puts me at around 3.2 to 3.6 miles. Not exactly an ultra-marathoner in the making, but still I’ve come a long way. Sometime in February of this year, I was introduced to the free Training Log at RunnersWorld.com. At first, I was attracted by the tool there that lets you map your route and tells you how long it is in miles or kilometers. Cool. But as I started using it, I found that I got really excited to see the little graphs and all showing how much I’d run. I also found that I was a little ashamed when the graphs had big breaks in them from several days of not running. So I committed myself to enter every run into the log, no matter how short or long. And that’s what I’ve been doing consistently since the end of February. It’s kinda cool to see weekly, monthly, and yearly totals, but it’s also a bit of a reality check. It reminds me of how much (or how little) I’m actually running. I figured if I posted that info on our site for all to see, I might be a little more motivated to get my rear in gear, so that the numbers don’t look too pathetic. This morning was rough, I’ll admit. I only ran a mile before I decided I was done. But it’s only Monday. I have the rest of the week to catch up. So go easy on me. :-)

Sorry:
Way to GO Diana!!!
Em and the girls (Dave too!)
Actually, I have 3 miles!
Dave has about 15 yards from the xbox to the fridge! :-)
Thanks for the encouragement, Dave and Emily (and Mikayla, and Sarah, and Kirsten…I know she’s proud of me too)! In his defense, Jake has started running with me sometimes…and riding his bike along beside me while I run. :-)
Marianne–we have no updated pics at the moment…it seems I’m always holding the camera and never in front of it (which, I must say, I kinda like it that way…). But we’ll see what we can do about putting some new pics of us up.
Hey! It’s 20 yards to the fridge!!!
I am so proud of you for posting your running log! That is a huge commitment I feel challenged now. I haven’t been logging my runs in consistently but now I think I will start logging every run in too. Thanks for the motivation! And I am bringing my running shoes to hopefully go running with you Friday!
