Women’s Retreat Debriefing

Okay, I have to be honest. Most “women’s” events tend to not really be my thing. And I’m okay with that. But at the same time, I sometimes miss out on building relationships with some really incredible women because I don’t enjoy their kind of social activities. This weekend was almost one of those times. Fortunately, I resisted the urge to bail out, and I went. Still being honest, I can’t say that it was the most fun I’ve ever had, and I can’t say that if I had been planning it to suit my tastes it would have gone the way it did. But it wasn’t planned for me. It was planned for the women of Grace Baptist Church as a group. And I think most of the ladies really enjoyed everything about it. One thing I will say though–I’m glad I went. Even if the activities weren’t exactly my cup of tea, I had the opportunity to get to know some of the ladies I go to church with in a way that I haven’t ever gotten to know them before. I got to hear about their burdens and struggles; I got to hear how God has blessed and provided for them; and I got to pray with them. For that, I am extremely grateful. It has opened my eyes once again to the great diversity, and yet at the same time, the great unity that exists among the women of Grace. It’s a beautiful thing, really. And I’m glad I got to be a part of a weekend that celebrated that unity in the midst of diversity. So there you go. No water balloons, (maybe a little dancing…shhhh), but still a wonderful time.

Oh, and did I mention we met Danny Glover? Yeah, we did. Had a little chat over some pound cake and Sprite. At Judson Baptist Retreat Center in Middle-Of-No-Where, LA. You know you’re jealous…

glad you had a good time. No mention of tissue use or if ya’ll acted like “ladies!” :) It’s always cool to get to know the people you go to church with a little better.

Did you get Danny Glover to say, “I’m getting to old for this!”
