Hi, I’m Diana. Nice to meet you.

It’s been FAR too long since I last posted a blog.  We’ve been a little busy around here with a few unruly visitors (Gustav and Ike, by name), and I guess that blogging just kinda got left in the dust.  For those of you who are still wondering, we didn’t sustain any real damage from either storm.  We got an 8 day vacation courtesy of Gustav, and just when we thought the coast was clear, Ike blew our grill over…from like 300 miles away.  Seriously, it didn’t come anywhere near us, and we had sustained winds around 25-30 mph, and gusts up to 40 or so.  Enough to knock out power a few times, and enough to knock over a grill–a pretty good sized grill, at that.  It also pushed a ridiculous amount of water up into the southern parishes of Louisiana.  Those are the same ones who sustained the most damage from Gustav, and they are now flooded…again.  They didn’t get anywhere near the media coverage that New Orleans got, but they are the ones who suffered the strongest effects of Gustav.

But we’re back to normal life now (as normal as it gets), so you can expect to be hearing from me a little more regularly.  On a side note, you’ll all be happy to know that Jake was concerned about all of you (our blog readers).  He kept telling me that I needed to post a blog.  That you were all going to get bored and give up on us.  That you would find more interesting (impossible…) and more regularly updated (possible…) blogs to read.  That you might even stop checking the site.  I have more faith in you than that, but he was concerned.  So much so, in fact, that he posted two blogs in a row, WITHOUT asking me to proofread them first (you may have noticed).  You people need to know that he cares about you.  And he’s going to make sure you have a post to read, no matter what it takes.  That’s just the kind of guy he is.  Doesn’t it just make you feel good inside?

I just want to add that I feel like “Ike blew our grill over” sounds like some kind of ghetto slang for surprising us, or catching us off guard, or maybe even beating us up or something. As a point of clarification, I’m not that in with the ghetto lingo (or any lingo for that matter), so I really just mean that it literally blew our grill over…flat on its back…on the ground. Just in case any of your were about to start using that phrase…

Who are you again, let’s see… Diana & Jake, oh yea I remember you 2! :) Glad to hear that things are back to “New Orleans” normal (I know that neither of you are really normal anyway).

Glad to see Jake cares, it does make me feel good inside.
    Oh wait, that’s just gas!

Thanks for the freestyle rap that’s going on in my head:

    “He blew our grill over,
He blew our grill over, What?
    He blew our grill over,
He blew our grill over, yeah!”

P.S. Kirsten’s first tooth has finally poked through on the bottom!
