My thoughts from this weekend’s conference

I went to a Church Leadership conference with a few other members of Grace BC this weekend.  There was one moment that stands out to me, and indicates that I may need to be careful about checking my tendency towards cynicism.  It has to do with something one of the leaders said in one of our breakout sessions:

Session Leader: Years ago, when you opened the doors of the church, people just came.  Today, you open the doors of the church…

Diana’s thought: …and they steal the refrigerator.

…based on the happenings of the last few weeks at Grace.  Yeah, they really stole the refrigerator…and a TV.  Then they came back the next week for some mics, mic cables, candlesticks (what?!), and a piano lamp.  I mean, really…did you have to take the piano lamp?

What’s the piano going to do now???? It’s lost its best friend. Have you guys started it on some grief counseling? I hope it stays in tune after all this. I’d go ahead and schedule an appt. with those guys in the psych dept. at NOBTS. Keys up little piano! You’ll see the light again soon!!!!

PS, your child kept “big girl panties” on all weekend while we were gone.

you are moving in by the queen of cynicism herself… maybe we can keep each other in check.
