You thought I wasn’t going to make it today, didn’t you. As I type it is 10:58pm. Which means it will be after 11:00 when I actually post this. Which means it will already be Sunday morning for Dave. But we’re not going on Dave’s (aka, Eastern) time. We’re going on my (aka, Central) time for this blogging challenge. So I’m still okay. Cutting it close, but still okay. As I sit here on my parents’ couch (we’re home for a friend’s wedding today), Jake and Andrew are playing on Jake’s new accordion. Okay, now pick yourself up off the floor and check that last sentence again. Yep, I said accordion. Jake is at this very moment picking out Amazing Grace on his new toy. Why, you may ask, do we now own an accordion? Well, there is a very thoughtful and generous couple in Jake’s parents’ church who gave it to us. So now it’s up to us to learn how to play it. If you don’t already know this about us, another hobby of ours is learning to play various instruments. We currently own a piano, 6 and 12-string guitars, a harmonica, a drum set, and now an accordion. We’re also “storing” a mandolin for Rich. Jake is in the market for a saxophone and a dulcimer next. Kind of a strange combination of instruments, I will admit, but so much fun. We both really love music, and we love playing around with different sounds and styles. We don’t like spending lots of money on these ventures, but if we run into a good deal (read: free) we don’t pass it up. I’m way too tired right now to find my camera, take a picture, and upload it, but I’ll give you a visual of our new instrument tomorrow. It’s pretty awesome.

Well here goes my 101st post, and what better way to start another 100 posts than with a comment on an accordion. :) Look, I know you guys have been living in NOLA for a while now, but I didn’t think that Zydeco or Polka were on Jake’s short list for fav. types of music. It’s a good thing that you guys don’t live on campus anymore. I can only imagine how many times Campus Police would have stopped by to “check” on you guys. Well, have fun with your new toy, and now all you need is a wash board for Diana to wear, and learn how to speak Creole, and you should be ready to go! Ai-eeeeeeeeeee!
Well throw in his father-in-law on the clarinet and we could have an interesting time.
