First of all, sorry for the posts-sans-photos lately. I know that words are so much more boring if there are no pictures to look at. But take heart, there are pictures for you today…
Jake and I have sort of a tradition of buying breakfast on Saturday mornings. We don’t do it every Saturday morning, but more often than not we do. When we were living in Flomaton, it was breakfast from Hardee’s. I LOVE Hardee’s breakfast. And don’t even talk to me about how nasty that Hardee’s is, or how they scored in the 80′s on their health score, or the horror stories about why the ice cream machine is “out of order.” I know all of that. I just prefer to believe that all of that is true only at lunch and supper times. In the mornings, though, I am certain that they are cooking and serving in pristine conditions. That’s what I’m choosing to believe.
But we don’t live in Flomaton anymore, and…horror of horrors…there are no Hardee’s in South Lousiana. *gasp* The closest one is in Gulfport, about an hour away. So after we moved to New Orleans, we discovered this bakery that serves the most heavenly apple fritters you will ever put in your mouth. New tradition established. We haven’t been in a few weeks, but we went this morning. I want you to drool over this with me:
Oh my gosh, these are good! Serve it up with a big glass of milk…MMMM! So if you live in New Orleans, go to Sweet Savor’s Bakery on Elysian Fields at Filmore, and buy an apple fritter and experience a little taste of heaven. The honey buns are really good, too, if that’s your thing. But I’m an apple fritter kind of girl. If you don’t live in New Orleans, and you come to visit us, make us take you to get one of these before you leave.
You won’t be sorry. It is worth every single calorie. I promise.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I love me some fritters too. does it compare to the Bakery that was in Brewton, or better?
Its hard to compare, I have not had one from the bakery in Brewton in forever. At the Bakery in Brewton, is the place I fell in love with the Apple Fritters so it will always have special place. :-) But these here in N.O. are pretty freakin good@
Those are my Favorite…I think I got Rich addicted to them too!
So I had to get up early this morning for work. I had finished up early and gotten everything done and decided to treat us to breakfast. I was thinking boring McDonalds but then I remembered your post. Apple Fritters for us this morning and they were DELICIOUS!!!
