Weekend Update

Our “bathroom” now has a ceiling, a shower (with no faucet yet), and about half of the walls. It’s actually starting to look like a real room! We hope to get the other half of the walls done this week, have the rest of the plumbing done, and have at least a semi-functional bathroom by next weekend. I think we may have a party when it’s done. A bathroom warming party. Or a “christening,” if you will. :-) I think we’ll all crowd in the bathroom, and serve hors d’oeuvres, and make small talk, and such. Be looking for your formal invitation in the mail any day now.

Sam is just a wonderful and sweet as ever. He likes to pee a lot. All over the place. If anyone has any tips on how to paper-train a dog, let me know. He’s too little to be running out the door and down the stairs every time he has to go, so we decided to try the paper-training thing. So anyway, any and all advice would be appreciated.

Our mini dachshund if paper trained. It took a little while. We praised her like crazy when she went were where she was supposed to. And, we said a stern “no” when she didn’t and then took her to the puppy pad. You can get puppy pads at walmart for cheap and they supposedly have an smell to draw the puppies there to do their business. You could also take Sam to it after he’s had water or been playing and see if he goes.

With my old roommate’s dog, we had to get a baby gate and keep him in the kitchen – with puppy pads in one section. It’s kinda like potty training a kid – you have to kind of put them on a schedule.

Some of his peeing is due to marking his territory too though. That’ll hopefully go away as he gets older. It’ll definitely cut down if you get him fixed.

Margaret used the puppy pads on her new puppy last year. She said he even used the pad when she is at work all day.
I can’t wait for the party. Will it be a black tie event? Do I need to go to Rodeo Drive and get my new gown?
