Chocolate, may I introduce Peanut Butter

My brother Andrew came to visit this weekend, and true to form, we knew about it, oh, maybe 5 or 6 hours before he showed up. That’s just the way he operates. Knowing that he has a birthday coming up this week (March 11), and being the wonderful sister that I am, I decided to make him a birthday cake while he was here. Now, you have to know that Andrew LOVES the peanut butter/chocolate combo. Reese’s are obviously one of his favorite candies. I had seen this Reese’s fudge cake online a while back, and saved the recipe for just such an occasion. So I decided to make it. Now let me warn you: this cake is REALLY rich. Don’t even attempt to eat it if you do not have copious amounts of ice cold milk available to wash it down. You can find the recipe here. I used way more reese’s cups than it called for. And we didn’t wait for it to chill in the fridge, but I definitely recommend you do. It’ll make the cake a lot easier to maneuver. So here it is in all its lopsided glory:
21 Candles
Blowin' out the candles
I consider myself a decent cook, but presentation is not my strong point. Eh, you’re just going to eat it anyway, right? To continue bragging on what an amazing sister I am…we also sent Andrew (and Robert, who just ended up being free at the right time and got to join in on all this fun) to the Hornets game Saturday night. I know, I know, who could ask for a better sister and brother-in-law? You’re right. :-)

So to all of you who are unfortunate enough not to be included as one of Andrew’s 1,435 facebook friends (really?) and therefore won’t receive the b-day notification there, his birthday is Wednesday, March 11, and he will be the big 2-1. Behave yourself, Andrew… :-)

Update: I just noticed Andrew’s friend count has dropped to 1,434.  I don’t know who they are or what they did, but it must have been rough…

1400+ Friends!?! He’ll be lucky if 2 actually call him a friend! :) Looks like a good cake. Diana, you are the 2nd best big sister. Mine of course is THE best, but I am a little biased! I have her kidney for goodness sake! :)

This recipe is definitely a keeper, that’s for sure. :-) Did you notice the link there, Shannon? So you can’t accuse me of not giving you this recipe. :-)
