The Front Porch

The front porch at my grandparents house, at least for a time, was the center of all family gatherings. I can’t remember if I’ve posted this picture on our blog before or not, but even if I have, it merits reposting.

Sitting on the edge of the porch in the front of the picture, from left to right, my cousins Jennifer, Byron, & Kevin, and me. Behind us, my brother Andrew is sitting in my Grandmama’s lap in one rocking chair, and Papa is sitting in the other. My grandparents only have the 5 of us grandchildren, and we’ve always lived pretty far apart, so pictures of all of us together are not very common. In fact the next one I know of is this one from our wedding.

And then there’s one of the entire Lambeth side of my family (also on the porch):

Why do I share this with you today? I don’t really know. I came across that first picture a little earlier today and smiled when I saw it. Jennie has been asking that we do something to bump Sam’s almost-inappropriate picture down the page a bit. I remembered having a few pictures from Grandmama & Papa’s porch on our wedding day, and then BAM! ….a blog post formed. That’s just how it happens sometimes when you have a blog about nothing…
