Laundry

I’ve done my fair share of money-laundering. Not in the illegal way, mind you…I mean I really washed and dried money with the laundry. I’ve also done some pen-laundering, wallet-laundering, cell-phone-laundering, receipt-laundering, old-gum-in-a-wrapper laundering…you get the idea. I blame most of it on Jake for not emptying his pockets before he puts his clothes in the hamper. Or before he throws them on the floor for me to put in the hamper. And since he’s so often the guilty party, I can usually get away with passing the blame even on the few times it actually does end up being my fault (but don’t tell him that).

This time, however, was different. A few days ago, while doing some normal clothes-laundering, I also partook in a little compact-flash-card-laundering. Seeing as how there’s absolutely NO reason why Jake would have a CF card in his pocket, I pretty much have to own up to this one myself. Yes, I left a $35 CF card in my pocket and washed the darn pants before removing it. Fortunately, I remembered it was there before transferring the clothes to the dryer, so it was spared that torture.

I let it air dry for a few days and then decided to pop it back in the camera just to see if it would still work. Guess what? It’s as good as new! They weren’t kidding when they named these things “Extreme.”

To quote the manufacturer:

  • Ideal for demanding photo shoots under severe weather conditions – heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, etc.
  • Durable, reliable and thoroughly tested – temperature tested (heat and cold); shock and vibration tested (industrial-grade RTV included for CompactFlash)

(bold emphasis added)

I’m not sure what kind of “thorough testing” they put these through, but they can now add wash, rinse, & spin cycle to the list. I had to take a few pictures with it post-wash to make sure it was still okay. Here are a couple:

Lately Jake has taken to finding fresh flowers on sale at Walmart and bringing them home to me. I don’t understand what it is about fresh flowers, but just having them in the house makes me happy. :-)

And this little guy always makes me smile. :-)
