We assembled our crib last night. Talk about having one of those weird, oh-my-gosh-this-is-really-happening moments. Our apartment is pretty small, and even with rearranging and getting rid of some furniture, we still couldn’t fit a regular crib anywhere. I wanted something that would be useful a little longer than a bassinet or cradle, so we went with a mini-crib. It’s the same height and depth as a normal crib, but the length is a couple of feet shorter. We got it yesterday, thanks to our wonderful mothers. :-)

We don’t have a mattress or sheets yet. Because mini-cribs are not all that common, none of the stores we’ve looked at carry mattresses for them, so that will have to be ordered.
Here are a few of the other baby items we’ve gotten so far…
These shoes were one of the first purchases we made when we found out we were having a boy. Jake got unreasonably excited when he first saw them, and I knew immediately that we would not be walking out of the store without them. He had some when he was little (of the Wal-Mart variety, that is…Jake and I were similar in our upbringing in that brand names were unheard of, unless, of course, they came used from a yard sale or goodwill.) He raced bicycles in his, and to this day refers to them as “racing shoes.”

I got this diaper bag in the mail from my Aunt Rita long before I expected to be receiving baby gifts. Needless to say, it made my day!

Earlier this summer, my Oma took one of her trips to Germany. (For those of you who don’t know, “Oma” is the German word for grandma. She’s my mom’s mom, and she was born and raised in southern Germany. She now lives here in the U.S., but she takes regular trips back to her hometown.) She happened to be there during World Cup fever, and just HAD to come home with something for Noah. :-)
*sigh* I can’t wait till he’s finally here. :-)

THIS is my fav. post yet, I love the funny ones, but this one is simply stated. You are in love with your son. O you are going to be a Wonderfilled mother!
i LOVE it!!! isn’t baby stuff fun? i look at some of the clothes that mia wears and remember back to purchasing it during my pregnancy… i think about all of my hopes realized in her.
Loved all the pictures of the baby stuff you have got so far…but all in all, I love the shoes. They are just toooooo cute.
I love that you have your crib put together! How exciting:) I remember Jake wearing those shoes all the time. Oh, he loved them. I am so happy Jake found a pair for Noah and even more exciting that they are real Vans! I can’t wait to finally hold my little nephew!
