34 weeks, 3 days

Sunday wasn’t a good day for me, so we didn’t get a picture at exactly 34 weeks. Then Monday and Tuesday were really busy, and by the time I thought about taking a picture I was exhausted and looked like something the dog dragged up. So here we are, 3 days late.

I’ll be going to the doctor every week starting next Tuesday. In two weeks we’ll get another ultrasound. I can’t believe how close it’s getting, but at the same time I am SOOOO tired of being pregnant.

I’ve been having Braxton Hicks contractions for the last couple of months, but they haven’t hurt at all…until this week. At first it was just this really weird feeling of my stomach tensing up into a tight ball. Like I was getting an ab-workout without having to actually do anything. But now they’re starting to feel more like bad cramps. And I’m pretty sure it only gets worse from here…

I’ve been cooking and freezing some meals for after Noah’s born (since Jake’s idea of cooking is ordering pizza…not that I mind that, but it’s not so healthy for us or for our budget to do that too often). I’ve got lots of BBQ pulled pork for sandwiches, homemade baked beans, red beans & rice (w/sausage), marinated grilled chicken breasts (cut up into pieces for salads, pasta, etc.), and spaghetti sauce (w/italian sausage & ground beef). I have all of these divided up into 2-3 portions per freezer bag so that we can heat up only what we need. I have a few more dishes I’m planning to make, but I was hoping to get a little input from all of you wonderful blog readers. Soooo….

Do you guys have any ideas for meals that are easy to freeze and reheat? Leave a comment and let me know. A link to a recipe would be nice also. :-) Thanks!

The Braxton contractions sound painful! Taco Soup is easy to freeze but that is all I really know how to cook! I am sure you will be taken care of for at least the first week by the moms and friends. Don’t stress yourself out about preparing food. Just rest!! I can’t wait to see you Saturday!

I feel your pain girl- warning- second time around Braxton Hicks are worse. At least they have been for me! I am freezing meals as well- we are doing minimeatloafs, lasagna, also I did steak strips marinated for steak quesadillas. This worked out well for me, I also bought the boxed instant mashed potatoes(not my favorite, but beats making the real thing), mac and cheese, and frozen veggies. Walmart has this huge bag of Blue Bird veggies-called California mix- with broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, in the frozen food section. I bought 2 of these, and take out a serving, throw it in the microwave, add seasoning, and voila, veggies. Also, for pizza, Winn Dixie has this GREAT deal right now if you buy 2 Freschetta pizzas, for 13.98 you get 2 liter coke product, breyers ice cream, Tyson’s anytizers, and garlic bread sticks free. I went after another one of those specials today. Hope this helps!

I’m so much better now than in seminary with making stuff ahead of time and sticking to the budget. Here are some ideas: Mini meatloaf – make them in a regular size muffin pan and then freeze two or three in baggies. Lots of variations – add onion, don’t add cheese, etc. My favorite is a dab of barbecue sauce right on top in the middle. We also do freezer mashed potatoes, that you thaw out and add a bit more milk to the mix, heat and they’re yummy! I marinate steak cubes with cut up pieces of onion and green peppers. When you’re ready to eat it, put it frozen in your crock pot and let it cook for 4 hours on high or 6-8 on low. Serve over rice or noodles. We also make waffles and freeze them – much cheaper than Eggos and we add stuff to the batter to make it better and different. That should keep you for awhile, but I have plenty more. I love these two websites for easy meals – http://www.5dollardinners.com/ and http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the recipe ideas! And Joanne, I think he’s been kinda low all along, but he might be dropping a little bit more. My dad is saying he’ll be early and is calling the last week of September for his birth. We’ll see…
